Memorandum of Understanding: Grambling Brothers and Community Voices
Good morning neighbors,
As promised, I am publishing the Memorandum of Understanding negotiated between the master developer, the Grambling Brothers, and Community Voices on behalf of the residents of Four Seasons at Lakes of Cane Bay.
Some have pointed out, more than once, that Community Voices was not elected to represent this community. That is fair. The KHOV board of directors and the developer/builder hold that role, and they would be better placed to fill it. But when concerns brought to the community's governing body go unanswered, it leaves a gap. This opportunity called for action, not apathy.
Community Voices exists for moments like this one. Over the years, a small group of like-minded neighbors have come together to improve outcomes for this community. Since it began, the group's selfless work has produced many positive results which at its core exist to prepare us for transition from declarant control to self-governance. In this case, several matters brought to the K.Hovnanian governing body were left unattended. Community Voices took the initiative and saw the MOU through to execution.
Some will see the value in this work, and others will criticize it. Despite that criticism, and the pressure placed on some of its members, Community Voices delivered results that will benefit every resident, including its critics.
Please note that this MOU is a pledge by the Grambling Brothers to uphold and carry out the eight commitments it lists. It does not seek or require approval from the HOA Board of Directors, which K. Hovnanian Homes controls, or from K. Hovnanian's parent company. If either wishes to take up these matters with the Grambling Brothers, that is certainly their right. Community Voices asked the master developer for a commitment. Many individual homeowners from other communities within Cane Bay Plantation affected by the proposed development have done the same, and their results appear in the plan or in similar commitments.
